FORENSIC CONSULTATIONS
Referral for a NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION may be made by other professionals (physicians, nurses, schools, other mental health professionals), parents, or by the adult patient himself/herself. Possible areas of inquiry may include, but are not limited to, AD/HD, learning disabilities, autism/pervasive developmental disorders, epilepsy, stroke, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors, movement disorders, and dementia.
NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS involve detailed investigation of various cognitive domains and socio-emotional functioning. Cognitive domains investigated typically include:
-Intelligence (IQ)
-Academic Functioning
-Attention & Concentration
-Memory
-Language
-Problem solving
-Mental flexibility
-Visuospatial skills
-Processing speed
-Motor functioning
-Socio-emotional functioning
PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS involve investigation of various emotional and personality factors through use of objective tests, projective tests, and personality questionnaires.
