Forensic Evaluations
Dr. Jo provides expert forensic consultation and evaluation services for attorneys and their clients seeking to determine any cognitive or behavioral problems stemming from a neurological injury and/or psychology trauma. Dr. Jo also conducts criminal evaluations and is on the approved list of expert witnesses for the Los Angeles Superior Court.
A forensic assessment can help to differentiate between organic vs. psychological/emotional etiology through an objective and thorough evaluation. The process typically involves a comprehensive records review, interviews of relevant collateral informants, and objective testing in order to gain a full understanding of an individual's past and present functioning. Part of the detailed evaluation includes assessing an individual's motivation to perform optimally through the use of a variety of symptom and performance validity measures.
Dr. Jo also performs evaluations in Korean and utilizes assessment measures that were developed and standardized in Korea, thereby providing a more accurate representation of the bilingual client's true level of functioning that is often difficult to obtain when using interpreters or test instruments that have been normed or standardized on a different cultural population.
